Great idea for a blog post - there are so many that you can pretty much guarantee everyone will offer something different. I can only recommend the ones I use, but to me they’re priceless! :)

1. About Me (sidebar info)
2. Add to Any (add to social media sites)
3. Akismet (quite possibly best anti-spam software around)
4. All in One SEO pack (brilliant for SEO-friendly titles and tags)
5. CommentLuv (great for showing commenter’s last blog post)
6. Eco-Safe (eco-friendly option to send PDF of blog to email)
7. Feedburner Feedsmith (Feedburner stat counter)
8. Google XML Sitemap (makes it easier for Google to index your blog pages)
9. Photo Dropper (lets you drop creative license images into blog with credits)
10. Social Links (sidebar widget with links to all your social networks)
11. Subscribe to Comments (does exactly what it says on the tin)
12. Twitter Tools (auto post your blog posts onto Twitter)
13. Wassup (traffic analyzer)
14. Wordpress Auto Upgrade (priceless plug-in to upgrade both WP and plug ins)
15. WP-Page Navi (lets readers navigate older blog posts more easily)
16. YARPP (shows related posts - great for blog visitors)
17. Zemanta ( excellnt plug in, suggests tags, images, links, as well as allowing readers to reblog part of your post with link back to you)

As I say, these are just the ones I use - the beauty of WP is that the community is adding great plug ins all the time :)

All in One SEO Pack
FeedBurner FeedSmith
Google Analytics for WordPress by Joost
commentluv in combo with Lucia’sLinkLove

I’m looking for a comment plugin and would be interested in what others share. Considering this: http://intensedebate.com/

Thanks!

Most of the plugins I use are my own creation, however all of the ones mentioned I definitely use.

Also use phpBay for those quick “I found a really cool product here’s a few variations of it listed on ebay …”

PS - forgot Woopra, immense traffic analytic plug in :)
